Dear

I am SU with 2 cervices and also had a partial vaginal

septum that was resected. My uterine septum was not

resected and im currently 31 wk preg. I was also

originally diagnosed as UD.

I live in mass in Boston and seen at Brigham and

Womens Hospital by Dr. Marc Laufer who is a top doc

for women by US World News Report who specializes in

MAs. He is excellent. He rec against septum

resection for me bc surgery with the 2 cervices (if

done via vagina) was too complicated, in his words

" blind. " It may be possible to do via lap/hyst more

easily but there are risks there as well.

We may have some sort of a hybrid MA that is partial

UD/SU, not sure, but to date my officially diag is SU.

SU is assoc with greater rates of early and 2nd

trimester miscarriage and for many reasons- ranging

from biochemical to vascular to morphological (running

out of space) to association with other conditions

that impair fertility and pregnancies such as

endometriosis and cervical incompetence.

Please make the trip to Boston to see Dr. Laufer. He

is wonderful, conservative, very experienced and will

know the right course of action in your case better

than anyone else.

Best wishes,

Heidi

Heidi, Thank you for sharing your story. I plan to call for a second

opinion consult with Dr. Laufer tomorrow. I will also follow up with

my RE after she presents my case to the group of drs. at RSC.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I am sorry if I am asking too

personal of a question, but can I ask if you had any trouble TTC?

My feeling is that if I don't have surgery I will continue to have a

problem conceiving. Since all of the tests have been fine, I have

chalked up my infertility in part to my MA. I know there are no

studies confirming this, but I can't imagine it helps.

Thank you again Heidi for taking the time to reply. I appreciate

your input.
