Guest guest
Hi, Can you please tell me what the pooling feels like and what the labwork looks like when there is pooling. I have been raising iron a lot this past month and I have some symptoms that feel familiar to when I was first trying to slowly (had to inch my way up)raise cytomel, cortef, florinef and iron and finding a balance. I got up to 75mcg cortef, 1 tab of florinef and 30mg cortef, but my ferritin was still low. Now that the ferritin is coming up(which has made me feel better), things feel off but I'm not sure what to adjust. I feel sort of hypothyroid (hair falling out, joints are sticking) and hypoadrenal (a little shaky feeling) and my pulse is higher than usual but adding cortef doesnt help and makes me feel like I have too much hc. I am wondering if pooling is what is going on. Thanks so much and congratulations on getting off the HC and florinef!!! > > Hi Val, > > We had spoke on phone bout 5 or so wks ago. At that time, I had just gotten 2 addl Iron IV's & my then labs showed T3 was pooling. I had gotten up to 70 mcg of Cytomel & you had advised I scale bk down to 60 mcg which I did. After my 2nd Iron IV, I began 5 mcg weekly raises & was doing real fine up until last Sunday. By then I was up to 90 mcg of Cytomel & could feel the pooling begin again. Temps were 98.0 to 98.4 & pulse was anywear from high 70's to 100. > > I dropped back down to 60 mcg of the T3. I am also in process of weaning from HC & Florinef bc we had discussed doing so last time on phone as I was exhibiting high cortisol symptoms such as sweating, bruising & you felt that could be contributing to the T3 pooling. > > I am now down to 5 mg of HC & 1/2 tab of Florinef. I am very happy to report that the relentless immense sweating as greatly subsided. = ) I feel OK w this small amount of HC & am weaning at a rate of 2.5 mg per w as you & I had discussed. > > I got another Iron IV today bc I could feel my ferritin dropping. My cycles are still rather heavy altho no longer hemoraghing (spelling) as back in the day. My current PCP is OK w me getting monthly IV iron, which is wonderful. > > I am hoping I can increase my Cytomel again. Right now I am doing 60 mcg. I was hoping to get bk up to the 90 mcg asap. > > What do you suggest my game plan be now? How should I proceed increasing T3? > > I know I am due for labs & will be having those w.in the next week or two. > > I do apologize for the lengthy post. I am also own 120 meq of K-Dur & have tried scaling down but when I do my edema comes back badly. Also taking 2 1/2 - 3 teaspoons of sea salt a day. My BP has come down since I scaled back on both the HC & Florinef as we had discussed. > > In conclusion, here are my questions: > > 1. How long should I stay at 60 mcg of T3? > > 2. Guest guest
Hi. Thnx for your reply. And thnx for the congrats. I was up to 40 mg of HC at one time. I am taking the weaning real slow. Will retest adrenals via saliva approx 2 mos post being off both HC & Florinef as per Val's suggestion. For me, the pooling feels like anxiety/irritation plus my pulse goes highish....mid 90's to low 100's. Not fun at all! I like my pulse mid 70's to very low 80's max. Also I get a chest pain like discomfort & just don't get the nice warm smooth energizing feel when the T3 is being used up by my cells. That is a great feeling when you have done w/o it for so long. I just wish I could hold onto my ferritin. I have tried so many diff kinds of supps & they pills upset my stomach & the liquid tastes horrendous! I am so thankful to have found this PCP as my former doc was totally opposed to IV Iron & my hematologist felt that the monthly maintenance could be handled by my PCP. It has made a HUGE difference. My ins pays for it; I do have a $50 co-pay but I do get it done at the local hosp & they are very nice there & I get snacks & a drink & watch TV & just relax. I take 1/2 day off from work as well. Have you increased sea salt? Do you take magnesium? They both a very impt for me to feel my best. I use Himalayan Pink Salt & Hyland's Magnesium Cell Salts. Both are great IMO. Also the K-Dur is a big must for me as well. C. > > > > Hi Val, > > > > We had spoke on phone bout 5 or so wks ago. Guest guest
Hi, Thanks for sharing with me. I think pooling might be what is happening. My heart rate is mildly elevated right now and is staying in the 80's, but 70's feels a lot better. I can't imagine what it would feel like if it got higher. It already feels uncomfortable and tight especially when it hits high 80s. I am doing okay tolerating my iron supplement. I am taking poly iron 150 - you can get it on the internet or at your pharmacy by prescription. I get it at Costco for under $10. It is very gentle on the stomach. If you ever venture to try another iron supp, it might be a good one for you. What kind of iron do they give you in the iv form? How long does it take to get the treatment? I have been using magnesium oil this past month and that has helped a bunch. I will check out the hylands. I do take sea salt but not a ton - i just add a pinch into every glass of liquid I drink during the day. Maybe I should be taking more. I use the Celtic sea salt. I had heard (but am not positive this is true and haven't looked into it yet)that the himalayan pink has a high flouride content? For all I know the Celtic has a high flouride content too though Is K-DUR prescription potassium? I have to go slowly on the potassium or it makes me nauseaus, but I need to work on that as well. I would love to get off the HC and Florinef someday. Hearing about people that have gives me hope. Thank you! > > > > > > Hi Val, > > > > > > We had spoke on phone bout 5 or so wks ago. Guest guest
I woudl stop reducin gthe HC for mnow as you ARE having some symptms of low cortiol. Intolerance of your usual size doses is a sign of weak adrneal funciton(low cortisol) . Reduce your salt a bit as the fluid reteniton may be form high sdodium rather than low potassium. http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ > Hi Val, > > We had spoke on phone bout 5 or so wks ago. Guest guest
Iron IV takes approx 3-4 hrs @ the hosp. My doc has it run over 90 mins. The brand is Ferlicitt (spelling). It is wonderful for me. I feel a TON better today. Slept much much better & feel just overall better. I have prolly tried that iron supp; I have tried so many of em. They just do NOT bring up my ferritin no matter what. When I would increase dose I would just vomit. No fun. I have heard conflicting things re content of all of the sea salts. I prefer the taste of the Himalayan Pink Salt. I make a salty lemonade type drink & it is very good & I can get down the salt I need. K-Dur is RX. My doc rx'd it for me. He's a great guy. Guest guest
OK Val, will do. I will stay w the 5 mg HC for now. I hope that that crazy sweating does not begin again. When I would go to work, people were starting to look at me funny! LOL. Just a few q's pls: 1. How long should I stay @ 60 mcg of T3? 2. Can I dose 15 mcg 6 x a day as opposed to to doing 25, 20, 25, 20? 3. If I can dose 6 times a day, what I do that every 3 hrs? 4. When should I increase T3 & how much of a raise? Thnx. Guest guest
Thank you for the info! Yeah it sounds like no oral iron was going to work for you. That's awesome you ar feeling so much better today. I love to hear people having success!! > > > > > > > > > > Hi Val, > > > > > > > > > > We had spoke on phone bout 5 or so wks ago.
