Guest guest
Both these sites have a conflict of interest in providing information, since they are trying to sell people supplements! Please forgive me, but I disagree with this idea of estrogen dominance. I think that " estrogen dominance " is a myth perpetrated mostly by the late Dr Lee, with his outdated ideas from the 1980s which have since been disproven. Most women who have these symptoms probably have LOW estradiol levels when they are tested (is possible that overweight to obese women may have high estrone levels, however, which can cause some imbalance problems. True, some of us may need progesterone supplements, but here is an example of possible side effects from bioidentical progesterone (Prometrium): http://www.drugs.com/sfx/prometrium-side-effects.html I'll get off my soapbox now, since I am off-topic. Guest guest
My gyn specializes in bioidentical hormones and he told me I was estrogen dominant too, I had identical symptoms as Holly for years and the doc told me to start using progesterone cream and it made all the difference for me. I also found out 2 years ago via saliva test that my adrenals were shot, too many years of burning it at both ends trying to raise kids, work, life in general. For those of us who are estrogen dominant natural progesterone cream is a Godsend to get our female hormones balanced. My doc did tell me that because I was overweight the estrogen tended to be concentrated so I was really imbalanced on those hormones, sometimes I just felt like I wanted to unzip my skin and step out of my body I was so frazzled, my hubby is like Holly's and did whatever it took to help me through that time in my life. I'm still perimenopausal but if I don't take my progesterone it's likely someone could get killed if they get in my way LOL. I took Prometrium for a while but I preferred the cream. I take T3 and it helped with hypo symtoms while the progesterone cools my jets;-)<<Posted by: "itskt2u" throwaway@... itskt2uTue Jul 13, 2010 8:41 pm (PDT)Both these sites have a conflict of interest in providing information, since they are trying to sell people supplements! Guest guest
It sure does, my husband was just tested for hormones, his testosterone was in the tank and estrogen was really high, his doc said he had estrogen dominance. Poor guy had no interest in anything, seemed like he'd lost his will to live almost. His doc specializes in bio identicals and started him on testosterone shots...difference is now night and day. He also gave him some pill that clears out the estrogen, the dude was getting boobs and his prostate was huge. His thyroid showed he was slighly hypo but doc wants him to stay on testosterone with this pill to clear out the estrogen, says he won't have to take flomax anymore and it's a falicy that testosterone makes men have large prostates...young men are full of testosterone but don't have enlarged prostates. Hubby's doc has worked with Suzanne Sommers while writing one of her books on bio identicals. All I know is his prostate is getting smaller, he has more zest for life and though he's 53, he's acting like he's 25....come on rt3 clearance...now I've got to be able to keep up with this guy LOL.<<Posted by: " Rouse" michael.hugh.rouse@... mrouseusTue Jul 13, 2010 8:46 pm (PDT)Kate - I'm not sure about women, but estrogen dominance definitely occurs inMen.>> Kem in Eugene <º)))><

Guest guest
This is interesting info. I take birth control with no breaks so wouldn't that regulate my estorgen,progesterone... to where I should be? I'm thinking of going off but concerned it might open a can of worms I can't handle. Just getting used to the idea of my awful rt3 and eager to get going on that treatment. In regards to prog cream - the idea of cooling my jets sounds heavenly right now. Guest guest
No, taking estrogen and progesterone with no breaks will keep you at one level the entire month, whereas most women's levels fluctuate during the month. Val posted a link to a chart showing how the estrogen and progesterone of menstruating women fluctuate throughout the month. I only take progesterone during the luteal phase when it does not raise properly as it should. That's why I keep it at luteal phase. I just happen to test my estrogen then, too, because it tends to have a sort of 2nd peak about 8 days before your period, so it's a good time to test. But there are other times to test estrogen, it's just sort of hard if you're cycling and not 100% regular because estrogen can change a lot. Now, I don't know what post-menopausal women to be honest. I think some try to have periods forever! I think Val says she keeps her hormones at luteal levels all the time, but whether low-end or high-end, I don't know. Maybe ask her! But at any rate, I think BCPs tend to make your estrogen levels too high and you don't want that because I know it affects cortisol which can affect rt3 of course.
