I have a Geratherm mercury free that I've been using but it started showing higher then what I normally run like in the high 98-99plus. So I thought maybe I would purchase a digital at my local grocer and that one is showing ALOT lower. I don't know which one to believe. I was thinking about decreasing my T3 but I already did and I think I'm hypo. Today I started my HC, but I know it's not that because I've been higher for atleast a week. I don't think I have an infection because my pulse is 60-64 and b/p norm. > Any suggestion or website would be great > > Thx > Christie > > > > ------------------------------------ > > We are not medical professionals here, just patients sharing our experiences. Guest guest
I am having the same thing happen Christie! I have a Geratherm and in the past few weeks my average temp went from 98.0-98.2 to averaging 98.6 - 98.8 (a few afternoon readings of 99.2). I have done nothing different. I am only on 27.5 HC, pulse has been about 80-84, BP has been about 120/78. It's been very hot here in Massachusetts, 90-100 and humid, so I am not sure if that is affecting my temp. We have A/C on, but it doesn't seem to help unless you are sitting still. I was going to start T3 this week, but now I am hesitant since my temp is "normal" and don't want the T3 to make it go up more. I know that doesn't help, but just wanted to share that it's happening to me as well. Guest guest
I have had bad expeirneces with the digitals you get at the drugs stores in the 10 dollar or less range. If I knew of a good and accurate digital i would gladly pay more for it. I have a mercury one from Horse.com but i find I have to leave it in for 10-15 minutes for it to reach the peak temp. I also need a magnifying glass to read it. That is not to bad but the time thing is annoying. > > I am having the same thing happen Christie! Guest guest
O.K. so I purchase today an animal mercury thermometer, it's alittle large but not bad. I took my temp with my Geratherm at 7am it was 98.9 , then took it with my new digital 96.4. I go to the store to get this animal therm and took my 10am reading which was 98, Digital 97.8 and Geratherm was 98.8. So I think that the mercury therm is correct and the digital is off by .2, and the Geratherm is broken. So I am definitely hypo, and I knew it but the temps were really throwing my off. What do you think about the thermo? CHRISTIE > > > > > > I am having the same thing happen Christie! Guest guest
" Taking one's temperature several times in a row will yield temperatures that rise each time. This is usually due to the muscular activity of the tongue and mouth. So, take only one reading " from: http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph Your temp readings did not follow this pattern, but I still suspect that taking temps several times in a row may not yield accurate results. This complicates the task of comparing the accuracy of one thermometer against another. > > > > > > > > I am having the same thing happen Christie! Guest guest
Interesting! Well do you think that the most accurate one would be the veternary thermometer because it is mercury? I will try them at the same time to see the results. I chucked the one I had but I will try the digital and the veternary, of course the digital will be faster, so how long should I keep the mercury therm in? Thanks Chrisie > > > > > > " Taking one's temperature several times in a row will yield temperatures that rise each time. > > Funny. Mine always go down. Guest guest
: Do you think it's necesary to use a mercury thermometer? I use a digital for taking basal temps for ovulation prediction.
