Guest guest
Hi there, Need some advice! I have a not-too-horrible RT3 problem (ratio is 15.7). I did have a pretty low ferritin but now that's been fixed with iron IVs (went from 15 to 110 in 2 weeks!). I do have weak adrenals. Thing is, my doc believes that now the iron problem is fixed, my RT3 problem should fix itself in time. I've decided to give him one month to test his theory and if the ratio doesn't improve, then I'm going on straight T3. Has this worked for others? Or does everyone end up on the T3 protocol? Also, my adrenals are pretty taxed. If I get some sufficient adrenal support, should this help the RT3 issue, even if I'm still on NDT? I have an appt. with him in a couple of hours. He's been very unwilling to do anything serious about my adrenal problem (even after saliva test results) as he believes anything aggressive will " put my adrenals to sleep " . Sigh. If your ratio is bad because the FT3 is low then this may work. If it's bad because RT3 is high then it stands little chance, I've seen a figure of around 230 for RT3 suggested as a threshold for this >Also, my adrenals are pretty taxed. I would support adrenals well enough to stabilize temperature before adding thyroid. It may be that treating the ferritin issue will reduce stress on the adrenals.
