Guest guest
Hello Ladies, I am so sorry that I have not posted an update before now. It is just that my DH and I have been on a roller coaster ride of emotions the last two weeks. Please allow me to now share our story. As some of you know I was going for my first ultrasound appointment on May 23rd. Well, DH and I were all excited to see our baby for the first time. According to my calculations I was 8weeks 1day. We went in and the tech started the ultrasound. She saw two sacs but NO development in either sac. We were told not to worry yet, (yeah right, easier said than done!) and that they would do the ultrasound as a " wet " read so that the doc would get the results in about 15 minutes. We went out to the car and waited then called the doc and asked for the official results. They were not good. The doc said that from what he saw, it looked like I was probably going to have a miscarriage. Well, DH and I were completely devastated. We went to my parents house and told them, we were all very upset. I went to work the next day only to have my principal send me home after a half-hour because I just couldn't function. That day, I called the doc again and asked him what our next step should be. He advised me to set up another ultrasound, for about a week later just to be sure that there was still no development. Well, we went back for another u/s on Monday June 1st. DH and I were pretty resolved to the fact that we were going to get bad news. Well, we went in and the tech started the u/s she asked me who told me I was going to have a miscarriage. I told her the story and she said " well, I have good news then, because you are definitely still pregnant! " All I kept saying was " are you sure? " She said, " Yes, I'm sure because there is a heartbeat and it sure as heck isn't yours! " She printed us out baby's first photo and told us to call the doc the next day for official results. I did and spoke to a different doc than I had the week before. This doc said that my u/s looked completely normal and it seems like a very healthy, run of the mill pregnancy! Basically, my dates must have been off because from what they saw this time I am now at 8 weeks 1 day instead of the 10 weeks I thought I was and that is why the week before there was no development and a week later there was. Also, the 2nd doc said the heartbeat readings looked very strong. That made us so very happy!!! I am sorry that it took me so long to post this update. It's just that when we thought it was bad news, it was so hard for me to deal with. Thankfully, it looks like all is well for now. I'll be going back to the doc on June 16th.
