Guest guest
My T3/rT3 ratio at 3.5 makes sense to me since the units ng/dL are the same. My T3=70ng/dL and rT3=19ng/dL. I read somewhere that this ratio should be greater than 10. I also read that fT3/rT3 ratio should be greater than 20 but this seems way too large to me since the units are different. When I translate my fT3 of 1.8 pg/mL to .18 ng/dL so I have common units, I get a ratio of .18ng/dL / 19ng/dL = .01. I suspect people kicking around this 20 rule of thumb are ignoring the units. In any event I have been on Armour and using Thyro-Gold lately to titrate up the dose so at least the T3's are midrange instead of being at the bottom. My free T4=.89ng/dL with range.81-1.48ng/dL. Ferritin=73ng/mL. My 24hour urine cortisol was slightly above normal. I am trying to decide whether to drop the Armour(actually EFRA)and go the T3 only route. Please give reasons if you think T3 only would be best. Thanks.
