Guest guest
50 is about the lowest ferritin you can have and have a decent chance of tolerating T3. However, ferritin results can be falsely elevated by inflammation or other causes, so we now also recommend an iron panel with a % saturation. For good thyroid utilization, % saturation should be 35-45. (I encountered this myself, my ferritin result was a decent 80; but % saturation was only 22. My iron was too low despite the apparently-good ferritin result.) The other most frequent reason for T3 intolerance is adrenal issues. This may have been covered already (sorry, coming in late to this thread), but anyway here's the link to Moderator Nick's adrenal info page: http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/adrenals.htm > > > > From: jenmarkov62 > Subject: Reducing Cytomel by 5 mcg? > To: RT3_T3 > Date: Tuesday, August 24, 2010, 12:30 PM > > > Hi All, > > Oddly enough, it appears like I'm unable to tolerate even 15mcg of Cytomel! I've been taking 15 mcg for about five days now, and my > temp is higher than it has ever been in the early and late morning > (98.5 upon waking and 99.4 at Noon). My tummy is still upset as > well, which I think is turning into my little red flag that perhaps > it's too much Cytomel (my tummy was okay on 5 mcg but on both 10 and > 15 mcg, it's been upset continuously). > > Could it be that my peak is really 10mcg/day? > > I'm thinking since my temp is up to 99.4 now, I should NOT take my third > dose of the day and drop back down to 10mcg/day. > > Thoughts? > > THANKS, > Jen > > > > ------------------------------------ > > We are not medical professionals here, just patients sharing our experiences.
