Guest guest
Hi! I just had my surgery on Oct 6th, but I had a balloon for 12days. I was little concerned about the bleeding too. It sounds like I bled a little bit more than you did (I was wearing ulta absorbent thin pads & changing every 2-3hrs) but I asked my doc about it at my 1st follow-up appt and he said it was normal. I didn't have much pain in the beginning, but on the 9th day w/ the balloon, the cramps were horrible and only got worse until my appt on Monday to have it removed. I'm actually scheduled for my follow-up SHG on 11/3. It's a little earlier than my REs normal procedure, but he said that he's being overly cautious about the possibility of scar tissue due to the extent of my remodeling. Better to get any possible scar tissue early while it's still soft and pliable. Oh, one piece of advice since we are at the beginning of flu season..... take some extra vitamin C and zinc if possible. I had just started to feel completely back to normal and I got slammed with a horrible head cold. I normally have a very healthy immune system and don't catch most common colds, but surgery is tough on your body and your resistance to germs could be down. I wish you the best! I was using up one sanitary pad a day upto 5 days after surgery. The doc said not to worry and to just get some extra rest. He said to only worry if I was using a pad per hour. The reason I'm wondering about this is that my doc did'nt insert a balloon after surgery. My main concern about this surgery has always been the possibility of scarring or adhesions and the doc had said that if it turned out during surgery that my septum was large, he'd probably use a balloon to minimise the risk of adhesions. He did'nt though: he said that I did'nt have enough bleeding to justify the balloon. I have a follow-up SHG 20 days after surgery that should show if everything's alright so we'll find out then. I'm just confused about the bleeding: if he said I didn't bleed enough to insert the balloon, what was all that post-surgery bleeding about? Maybe by 'not bleeding much' he meant I didn't bleed hugely, not that I did'nt bleed at all, but I'm not sure. I'd appreciate any light anybody can throw on this. The bleeding's stopped but I'm still in some pain...sharp twinges in my uterus mostly when I sit up straight too long and in my more tense moments wonder if that isn't scar tissue growing or something. I still have about 10 days to go till the follow-up test and am feeling tense in the interim. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
Hi ~ I believe I bled for about 7 days after surgery, and used more than a pad a day. I also did not have a balloon catheter put in post resection. Instead my doctor did what he called " uterine sounding " to help minimize scar tissue & regrowth a few weeks after the surgery. I also had pain for two weeks, but it subsided with each day somewhat and after the two week mark felt pretty good. I didn't care for the way that Vicodin made me feel so I stuck with Ibuprofen which did the trick. If I were you, I'd just take it easy and rest a lot - if your pain is unmanageable or seems unusual, call the doc again and tell him your concerns. There's a lot of healing going on down there! I'll bet within a week you'll be feeling better. I also would be really cautious and not do much lifting or strenuous. I lifted my niece (baby) a few times a week after surgery and that aggrivated my pain. Keep in mind too, if your body is tense, you might be feeling pain more acutely than if you are relaxed. Hang in there! One thing I've done in the past that has worked well for major menstrual cramps is to simply enjoy a half, sometimes full glass of wine with dinner. Takes the edge off that discomfort! Since I just found out I'm pregnant, it will be a while until I'll do that! Hope you're feeling better real soon! , 34 SU - resected 6/28/05 PCOS, 1 working tube DS 3/13/98 2 wk, pg #2 Bleeding after SU resection surgery & scar tissue scare I had my septum resected/removed (Hysteroscopic Septoplasty) 8 days ago and was wondering if anyone else who had this bled much after? Guest guest
Hi there. I had this surgery without balloon insertion in early August, 05. I seemed to bleed not to heavily- but rather consistently- for a day or two, then...I began bleeding extremely heavily. I would have several bouts per day where I would pass very large clots and a lot of blood. This occured for about a week, had to see the doctor as I was very concerned this was not normal. But, upon examination, everything looked as though it was healing normally. Bleeding continued for about a month, although not that heavily, into my next period. Compared to my situation, it doesn't seem that you are/did bleed excessively. I too worry about possibly adhesions/scarring, but was told by my RE that my situation now is better than having the septum. One thing you may want to have checked is your iron levels, maybe just check with your doctor. I just had bloodwork done and found that I am anemic, most likely due to the blood loss over two months ago...meeting with my doctor on Monday to discuss further. Good luck to you, feel free to ask anymore questions :-) > > I had my septum resected/removed (Hysteroscopic Septoplasty) 8 days > ago and was wondering if anyone else who had this bled much after?
