Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your baby girl. I can't even imagine what you have gone through and are dealing with right now. I am also UU, and have a 1-yr old son. This is just a brief synopsis of the care I got (son was delivered by c/s at 34w4d): -Did not see a regular o.b. at all - started seeing group (well, 2) of perinatologists (they deal in high-risk pregnancies) at around 8 weeks gestation -Baseline cervical measurement taken around 13 weeks - was to be measured via transvaginal u/s (as well as manually) at least every 2 weeks (sometimes it was every week). Did not have a cerclage put in due to possible complications with one. -At 22 weeks I went into preterm labor - care was hospitalizations, tocolytics (magnesium sulfate through i.v. and subcutaneous terbutaline at home), bedrest -I had at least 30 ultrasounds and many biophysical profiles due to nonreactivity during NST's (nonstress tests) -First goal was to make it to 24 weeks, then 28. Your treatment in the future would probably depend on what the determination was for your little girl being born early (i.e. did they mention incompetent cervix?)As elluded to above - I was told that my main goal was making it to the 28-week mark. I've also heard it mentioned from a number of other individuals (my doc won't say this is for sure, of course - very conservative) that a subsequent pregnancy is likely to go longer due to the uterus being stretched out. Hope that helps. /UU/
