hi

it is my general understanding that it is possible to

bleed a little (i stress, a little- like pink stain on

the toilet paper, or brown, dried blood- not bright

red/blue blood) at the times you would normally have

your period during a pregnancy- notably i got severe

cramps at 4 weeks and 8 weeks pregnant but no blood.

this is to due background hormonal fluctuations.

however, the bottom line is the pregnancy test.

Having tried forever with my MA TTC before getting

help- i was on that roller coaster of temps and

testing- and recommend for your sanity that you only

test 3-5 days after a missed period. I guess I would

try to gague how different this bleed was from your

normal bleed, and do you have any other symptoms of

preg? The docs generally wont do a blood test until

you get HPT+. GOOD LUCK!

Best

a,

When in doubt, pee on a stick :) Don't go into the HSG with any

worries about things like that. My RE actually makes you do a urine

pregnancy test before you have the HSG, even though there was no way

for me to be pregnant. It is required. You obviously have even a

tiny doubt, so definitely take a pregnancy test the morning of the

HSG, so that you don't have that extra stress.

:)

Judith, , Heidi, tte, thank you so much

for your replies to my questions! I felt a little

idiotic asking, b/c I have practically memorized

TCOYF and stuffed my head with all kinds of

details about how your cycle is SUPPOSED to go.

But after finding out about my MA, I started

doubting everything again. It is good to know that

I can rely on charting my ovulation as much as

anyone else. :) Thanks for the reassurance!

tte (UD) mentioned in her email to me that

she did experience a heavy bleeding episode at

10 weeks, which the dr. said was the other side

of her uterus shedding its lining. He said it was

rare, and called it a " decidual cast " . The baby was

perfectly fine.

I did an HPT, just to be sure, and it was neg., so

I do feel a lot better about going for the HSG.

I did have some doubts, as my cycles are a

bit unpredictable. I recently started supplementing

with vitamin C, which I think has lengthened

my luteal phase, and I suppose that also shortened

my menstrual period. At least I hope that's the

explanation.

Thanks again, ladies!

Ovulation while pregnant is possible but uncommon, and probably not

any more likely with a MA. Having two separate uteri or a divided one

should have absolutely no effect on ovarian function.

But lots of women, MA and non-MA, bleed a bit while pregnant,

especially at the 2-week mark past ovulation. It can seem like a

period. So there is nothing wrong with taking an HPT.

Bleeding with an MA is supposed to be more common. Not sure what

evidence there is for this. A woman with a normal uterus can lose all

her lining but what the placenta is using and still have a healthy

pregnancy.
