Weird Side Effects - Burning Shooting Pain from All Thyroid Medicine

I am writing on behalf of a friend who has a terrible time on all forms of

thyroid medicine. Hoping someone can help! Here are the basics:

Diagnosed hypothyroid in January. Started taking levothyroxin 50 mcg, and did

well for about two or three weeks, then started feeling tired and weak again.

After one month, switched to armour thyroid. At three weeks, started having

shooting pains in breasts and under the arms. Pains and burning sensations

continued and spread out from those first areas to my face (esp. my lips) and

lower body.

Thinking it was an allergy she switched back to Synthyroid 75 mcg. Once again,

the same burning face pain and body symptoms came back at about week 3. She

tried cytomel, and the genetic synthyroid with everything in varying doses but

the same symptoms came back.

The doctor is of no help. The only other med she is on is Vivelle dot 1.0 twice

a week.

Are these just strange side effects, or something else like an allergy ?
