Guest guest
Hello, I am new to this site - and new to pregnancy too! I found out that I had a bicornuate uterus when I had one of my ovaries removed (due to ovarian cyst) in 1996, but didn't think anything of it since I wasn't planning on having children at that time. Almost a decade later and I have just found out, to my joy, that I am 5- weeks pregnant. I am a bit intimidated about writing here as you all seem so well-informed and I feel so terribly ignorant, even about my own condition (having only ever had ultrasounds). My gynaecologist has said nothing about the risks associated with my condition and has not advised me to do anything in particular during the pregnancy (apart from " not move around too much " . She said that I could continue swimming though.). I suppose it makes things harder that I am an Englishwoman living in France and don't really know who to turn to for advice or what the usual procedures here are. I suppose that what I am really asking is whether I should just take my gynaecologist's advice and take each day as it comes, or whether there are any particular steps I should be taking at this stage. I have had mildish cramps almost constantly since the start of the pregnancy, mostly on one side, but the gynaecologist seems to think this is normal and may be associated with the scar tissue left over from my operation years ago. Otherwise I have had no bleeding or other symptoms. I admit that what I have read on the internet has frightened me and so I am reluctant to start enjoying my pregnancy as it seems that it could so easily all be snatched away. I would be really grateful for any advice that anyone could give me. I am so glad that I have found you all, I don't feel so confused and alone anymore! All the best, Parisa
