Guest guest
Hello Ladies, Sorry that I haven't been around in a while. Last Friday when I went to see the peri for my bi-weekly cervical check, he said my cervix had shortened to just barely over 2 cm (previously it had been holding steady at over 4cm). So, he called in the steroid injections at the hospital and put me on strict bedrest. I went to the hospital and had the first injection. They told me to return in 24 hours for the second injection. Well, then I went home and made plans for my bed-rest. The next morning at 10 to 7 I woke up with severe contractions and severe back pain. My dh called the doc and they said to bring me right to the hospital. At the hospital, they evaluated that I was in pre-term labor. They contacted the peri and he said to go ahead and give me the second steroid injection. Then, they loaded me into an ambulance and took me about an hour and a half to the HUGE hospital that is famous for its NICU. (The hospital I went to first doesn't have a NICU). During the ride, I had more contractions and was very uncomfortable. Once there, they hooked me up to Magnesium Sulfate and fluids. When blood was drawn, it came back that my white blood count was high indicating an infection somewhere. I was also placed on several rounds of IV antibiotics. Thankfully the Mag stopped the contractions and I was hospitalized from Saturday until Monday late afternoon. Before I was allowed to go home, my peri ordered the fetal fibronectin (SP?) test which came back negative. So, I am now and for the foreseeable future on strict bedrest at home. I do have bathroom privileges and I can shower every other day for 3-5 minutes. We are hoping that I make it another 2 weeks minimum. Yes, this does really stink but I am trying to stay positive as I know it is not forever and that I am just doing the very best that I can for this baby and a healthy baby will make these weeks of bedrest all worth while! Just thought I'd send an update, thanks for reading. Lyn 27, UD Preg w/#1 28w1d
