second opinion on SU - loss mentioned

Hi All,

I was diagnosed with a SU during my complications with my first

pregnancy with twins. During an U/S before laser surgery (during

pregnancy) the lab tech saw it, and the doc confirmed it during

surgery. He recommended that I have it checked before getting

pregnant again (we lost the twins).

I had a 3D U/S in September and it showed a smooth fundus and a wide,

vascular septum. The RE suggested that we go ahead with a

hysteroscopy, and it is scheduled for 12/5. I decided to get a

second opinion at another major hospital in the area (thanks to

Ann!), and that RE looked at the images and questioned why the image

showed different shading of tissue in the area from the septum to the

top of the uterus. This RE wondered if I don't have a combined BU/SU

or actually a BU with some insubstantial tissue growth across the top

of my uterus. She recommended that I have an MRI to better assess

the density of that tissue - hopefully telling us if I actually have

a BU or an SU. I'm thankful that I didn't go ahead with a resection

yet since it seems like it could have weakened the uterine wall if I

actually have a BU.

There's so often talk of misdiagnosis on this board, and also many

have said that the MRI isn't very accurate. Any advice from those of

you who have been through this?

Heidi - congrats on getting so far!! It is great to continue to read

about your success.

Take care,

Laurie
