Guest guest
Hi , hope you don't mind me jumping in on your question to Heidi. I have a complete SU, knew about it before I got pregnant (due to a fertility work-up) but didn't have it resected or even really consider it as I was SURE I'd never get pregnant (we ttc for 3 years before I finally got pregnant). Suddenly, half way through adoption procedures, I got pregnant. Like you mention in your post, and probably very like Heidi's pregnancy, I was a wreck until I hit 37 weeks. I worried so much I'm sure I aged 20 years during the pregnancy. As a result, about 8 months after my dd was born I marched back to my RE intent on demanding a resection because I couldn't possibly handle that kind of stress and worry again. It was at that app't that he explained that my septum is not fibrous and therefore he would not be able to remove it via the regular lap/hyst day surgery. I opted not to have a metroplasty on my RE's advice and particularly given the fact that I do not, as of yet in any case, have a history of m/c. Also, there are a couple of studies out there that suggest that SUs, while definitely having higher than normal 1st trimester m/c rates, may not be quite a risky as more dated studies suggest. My REs and Peris tend to agree with this as well - certainly they didn't buy the 80+% loss rate with SUs quoted in one study (I forget which one). In any case, I've chosen to believe the more optimistic studies and hope for the best - guess I have no choice?? Cheers, a
