Guest guest
that statistics in this field are not very good-- i wouldnt rely on them. unfortunately i think youll just have to wait and see. i think the real unknown is in the development of scar tissue. best wishes, Heidi SU not resected --- a559charlie mrobichaud@...> wrote: > Just curious if there are any stats or %'s out there > regarding the > liklihood of needing a second surgery after your > septum is removed? Guest guest
hi i can't help with the statistics either just tell you the specifics of my case: with my 1st surgery (lap/hyst/resection 3/05) the RE told me he had removed 80% or maybe 90% of the septum - i didn't think i'd need a 2nd one - after waiting for 2 cycles and having a chemical pg i think the RE thinks i may end up doing IVF and so 5 months after the 1st surgery i had the 2nd one - only hysteroscopy with u/s guidance this time - he did see and removed scar tissue and he also leveled whatever was left of the septum (less than 1cm) - so now i should be scar-free and 100% septum-free - almost as good as new - i hope we can conceive soon .... this is gonna be our first cycle TTC after the 2nd surgery ... we agreed with this dr that we were going to try the old fashioned way for a few cycles but if i'm not pg by december/05 then we'll discuss other options ..... getting pg *APPARENTLY* had not been my issue so far BUT i'm not sure of ANYTHING now so we'll see ..... gabi, 38, SU
Guest guest
I have had mine done twice. AND, I was hesitant about it the second time. My septum went all the way to my cervix. I understand the process of " resecting " the septum is more like unzipping the thing......and my Doc said that it can sometimes stick bad together like velco.......it must happen because the balloon moves....or, in my case, I don't think the balloon was big enough to do the job. The HSG at the end of my firt surgery (July) looked great. However, a second HSG a month later, showed the septum only slightly at the top of the uterus. I don't know the liklihood of having to have it done again. In fact, before I came to this board, I didn't even know that might be a possiblity. Of course, my Doctor told my husband after my first surgery that it was a possiblility but, she didn't think I would have to have it done a second time....however, it turned out that I DID. The second surgery was much shorter than the first (15 min). However, a much larger balloon cath was inserted, and I had more pain than the first time....It wasn't bad though. Once I got on a regimen of pain killers, I was fine. That was a week ago. Today, I feel great! Just take things one day at a time, and see what happens. If you have to have surgery again, I say " no big deal " ......better it is done right than question if it would cause a problem with any future pregnancies. Good Luck....if you want to know more, just ask. I am happy to share. > Just curious if there are any stats or %'s out there regarding the > liklihood of needing a second surgery after your septum is removed?
