Guest guest
Hello Halaina, It sure does sound like our paths are similar. I had a D&C with Hysterscopy last Tuesday and he discovered that I have a septate uterus. We were afraid that I had uterine cancer, but thank goodness we don’t. Wow! I can only imagine how scary that must have been to think, even for a little while, that you might have cancer! It sounds funny to think that finding out that you had a septate uterus was actually a relief, but thank goodness!!! Hopefully the combo of Met & clomid will do the trick for you. Good Luck, lots of baby dust!!! I just went for my first IF visit in June and was dx w/ PCOS that day based on both my irregular history and a vag ultrasound (my ovaries were so filled w/ cysts it looked like cottage cheese). The follow-up blood work confirmed the dx as well. I was hoping that the PCOS was our only obstacle but then we discovered the T-shape in July after my 1st HSG & scheduled the lap/hyst to correct the T-shape and a blocked tube for early Oct. I'm just finishing up the meds prescribed post-surgery and I'll have a follow-up SHG in about 2 weeks. We'll find out then if we've got a green light ttc or if we'll have to wait another month. With all that other stuff going on, we decided to wait to start on the Metformin until after surgery. I’ll start on the Met in about 1 week. Thanks for the help about the clomid. I’ll call a few pharmacies in the area to get their actual cost but at least I have a basic idea. They say that timing is everything, and I’m actually lucky because my current script plan doesn’t cover anything, but we are switching companies for 2006 and they’ll cover half of IF scripts. I did hear back from the nurse yesterday (my dr. is out of town) and she seemed to think that the dr. will start me out at 100mg and they will monitor by u/s for hyper-stimulation. From a look at his notes in my file, she seems to think that this plan for the next year is 4mos of Met alone, then adding oral clomid for 4mos, and then if we don’t respond he might move on to injectables. You know, going thru all of this is like a lesson in patience. We’ve been pretty good at maintaining the attitude that it’ll happen in His time, but we def didn’t expect to wait 3 years. Most of the time I’m ok with the waiting and I haven’t gotten to a point yet where it’s difficult to hear that someone close is pregnant (7 close friends or family currently). I REALLY try to avoid thoughts about the possibility of going thru all of this (physically, emotionally & expenses too) and coming out empty handed, but every once in a while a despairing thought creeps in. It sounds horrible, but that fact that my little brother has 2 girls (4yrs & 2yrs) and is now thinking about trying again gets to me once in a while. I love my nieces, they are both beautiful and I baby-sit every chance I get, but he’s my LITTLE brother. His family is going to be complete even before we can start ours. Agghhh! I need to stop typing or I wo’t be able to stop the tears. I’m having a rough day, it must be the hormones!!!! I need to go back and read all of those positive posts. In my heart I know that it’s going to work out. Sorry so long, I guess I really needed to “talk” today. Thanks for listening, I don’t know what I would do without this group! Well, to me it sounds like we have similar situations. My doctor put me on Metformin on June 3. He started me off at 1500mg. and then he bumped me up to 2000mg. last week. I had a D&C with Hysterscopy last tuesday and he discovered that I have a septate uterus. We were afraid that I had uterine cancer, but thank goodness we dont. My husband and I start clomid next month after my next AF (brought on by progesterone). DH and I have been TTC with no luck since 9/04. I hope both of these meds together do the trick. About your question. My insurance doesn't cover ANY fertility meds at all, so we called around and CVS pharmacy has Serophene (generic for clomid) for about $24.00 for 5. Your doctor will start you off at 5, to see how well you react to it. Trust me, the last thing you want is hyperstimulation of your ovaries. good luck and I hope you get you BFP soon!!!!! P.S.- Does your Dr. think you have PCOS, that's usually the only reason they give Metformin. --------------------------------- Yahoo! FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
