Guest guest
My doctor has recommended a cervical stitch at 12 weeks to prevent premature delivery. Has anyone had one of these? Do they work? I am seeing a " high risk " pregnancy specialist who has seen many UU's and BU's. I am not pregnant and not yet TTC. Background: I have a UU with a rudimentary non-communicating horn. It has also been referred to as a BU. On the outside the uterus looks normal. On the inside, there are two cavities with only one connected to the cervix. The other cavity is rudimentary and 'closed off'. This causes endometriosis because there is no outlet through the cervix. I am told a pregnancy in the rudimentary horn would rupture at 18 weeks. Treatment plan: oral contraceptive pill without a break for menstruation to manage the endometriosis (which was treated with surgery last year) until ready to start family. IVF is recommended to implant embryo in 'good' horn. Cervical suture at 12 weeks then weekly 'monitoring' - fibronectin, manual, ultrasounds, check-ups. Steroids for baby's lungs at 25 weeks onwards. Finish work at 29 weeks to rest. My doctor said the median (not average) term for his UU/BU patients was 31 weeks. Does anyone have any comments on this treatment plan? I am new to this website. ____________________________________________________ Yahoo! Sports Rekindle the Rivalries. Guest guest
I have heard of people having that done to prevent preterm labor...all this is new to me thou, seeing as how i just found out i am BU less than a month ago, im 29wks preg (first preg) and im not really being monitored any different than most others so im getting kinda worried. where did you find a specialist that works mostly with BU and UU?? because i do not think the doctors are even CONSIDERING that i could go into labor early!!! which bothers me because i think if they monitored me JUST IN CASE i could and THEY could be prepared if i did....sorry to ask so many questions and not help you that much!@!! > My doctor has recommended a cervical stitch at 12 > weeks to prevent premature delivery.
