Guest guest
Hi - I'm in Ottawa and also have an SU, unresected. Regarding dx, many women are misdiagnosed via only mri, the only definitive way to differentiate between SU and BU is to do a lap/hyst. That said, looks like your ob is willing to perform the lap/hyst so obviously she or he will make the final dx just before surgery if you do indeed have an SU. I had a lap/hyst and an MRI to dx my SU. As it happens the mri did correctly dx my MA. I haven't had my septum removed, so can't add too much on that. Generally I know that the women on this group really encourage women to find an RE to do the surgery. I had an RE do my surgery. I'm a little concerned regarding your gyn's comments re: scissors. You may want to post a general question regarding the surgical procedure. As far as I understood, septums are typically removed via laser during a lap/hyst??? An issue to consider is scar tissue as residual scar tissue can further contribute to fertility issues. Do you live in a rural area, is that why access to an RE is a problem? Or is it more a question of how long it would take to see an RE after a referral? I would suggest that you get a referral asap in any case, they are the real expects on both fertility issues and MAs. Guest guest
Hi again, I suggest you check the files section of this group, particularly the SeptoplastyQs.doc file, you may find some quite useful information. As I mentionned in my first post, I really rec'd you post a general question to the group re: having a hyst to remove septum with microscissors, as I really don't know how common or not this type of procedure is. Cheers, a
