Guest guest
Heidi, Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to compile & print everything that you all had checked during your pregnancies! It is great information. I didn't have any other m/c other than losing the twins. Why would a twin loss be expected with an unresected SU, just b/c of the space issue? The twin who survived until birth at 27 wks (the recipient) was on one side and seemed to have more room. The other twin who died after surgery at 20 wks (donor) was always small and didn't seem to have enough space. Although the OB implied that my loss wasn't due to the septum, I think that there were related issues, like the IUGR and the umbilical cord of one being pressed around the septum (seen during laser surgery). As to your last question on the diagnosis, I have to see what the docs say about the MRI results. If it is a clear SU, then I'll have it resected. If it is BU/SU or just BU, then I'll see what they say. Obviously with BU I would probably just ttc again. We do know that the septum is wide (3 cm by 1 cm) and vascular. When I was pregnant with the twins, it was hardly visible by u/s. I'm excited for you with every day that passes!! What are the implications of the strep b bacteria? You wrote that the antibiotics given prior to birth remove the risks, but what does it cause and how did you get it (if not just a natural bacteria)? All the best!!
