Guest guest
Hi Meri! Welcome! I'm so glad that you found us...I've been a member here for over 3 years. This site has been so helpful to me, but was especially great during those initial months after my diagnosis. Be sure to fire away when you have any questions. The ladies here are so helpful and very knowledgable. Anyway, my story...I'll try to give you the short version. I'm currently in my 4th pregnancy (gosh...that sounds weird to me!) I have had 2 m/cs (but, also have something called an MTHFR gene mutation, so the m/cs aren't necessarily related to my UU.) And, I also have a DS who is 2. So far, I'm almost 7 weeks along with this one and things are looking normal so far. My pregnancy with my son was pretty stressful. I did have ptl (preterm labor) which started pretty early. I was put on bedrest/meds at 18 weeks due to uterine irritability. It was a very long haul, but we consider it to be quite a success story. DH was not born until 36 weeks with no health problems whatsoever. In my book, the 4.5 months of bedrest was totally worth it. Obviously, I'm willing to do it again if necessary. I was even able to have a vaginal delivery, which they told me would never happen. I have had some IF problems. 3 of my 4 pregnancies have been conceived while on clomid. It has taken me anywhere between 6 months to a year to get pregnant each time. The internet info out there is very discouraging. Try your best to put it all way in the back of your mind (or out of your mind if possible!) and to focus on all of the success stories here-there are many. Lots of the women with UUs have very smooth pregnancies with no complications. There have even been women who have carried twins in a UU. The best thing to remember is that now that you know about your UU, your docs can be very proactive and very cautious. Having an MA is definitely not ideal, but there are so many success stories. You have every reason to be optimistic. I wish you all the best of luck! Please feel free to speak up any time you have questions and to keep us posted. Take care, UU, 30 DS 8-31-03 6w 6d w/ #
Guest guest
Meri, Just wanted to say " Welcome! " . I second everything posted to you. I think there were 5-6 UU twins born in less than a 2-year period, counting the mommies on a UU listserv that is out there (I believe there might be a link in this group to it?). There were 3 sets I reported to my peri/a resident when I was pregnant, and by the looks on their faces, I don't think they believed me. By reactions such as those, and being referred to as " bicornuate " about 100 times during my hospital " visits " , I have really come to doubt how much medical information out there on MA's is reliable. The women here were the most knowledgeable and helpful to me! Many times, I wish I could have " wrapped up " all of their experiences and expertise, and hauled it into the docs' office. This board and the listserv kept me somewhat sane And, yes, that darn internet info...I wish I had not " googled " so much when I was initially diagnosed and throughout the early months of my pregnancy. Caused me MORE stress! Try to soak in all the positive stories you can. I know it's so difficult to do, but those are what helped me keep the faith. My pregnancy had similarities to 's. I was only on bedrest 3 months, 1/2 hospital-1/2 home, and was on tocolytics as well. Emotionally difficult, yes....but worth every moment of it. I'm sorry that I cannot offer much help with the clomid/lining questions. I did take Clomid briefly during our IF journey (took 7.5 years to conceive our son). I'm betting you will get some good answers from others that do know, though. /UU/32 ds 7/12/2004
Guest guest
Thanks so much for your words of hope, inspiration, positive energy, etc. I know I have a long road ahead of me and hope I'm in good hands. I imagine you had IVF, correct? What state do you live in? Benoit Ujhazy MAUjhazy@...> wrote:Meri, Just wanted to say " Welcome! " . I second everything posted to you. Guest guest
Meri, I'm in Ohio - Akron/Canton area. And, nope...no IVF for us. Our insurance didn't cover it, and we had no credit back then, so IVF (or any other fertility treatment, besides a few months of Clomid) wasn't an option. Believe me...there were breaks in that 7.5 year run since it took it's toll emotionally. We actually conceived after 7 years, but I had an early m/c. Six months after that, I got pregnant with my son. I hope your journey is short! /UU/32 > Thanks so much for your words of hope, inspiration, positive energy, etc. I know I have a long road ahead of me and hope I'm in good hands.
