Guest guest
Hi Nat,You may find my story interesting,I had a uterine septum and vaginal spetum. I lost my first baby at 39 weeks(not related to my septum)then suffered secondary infertilty for 2 years then went on to IVF for 4 years after 13 IVF transfers(yes 13)I finally fell pregnant only to lose this much longed for bub at 26 weeks due to vallementous cord insertion(cord not inserting into placenta corectly). It was then that they decided to look into resection surgery to if any help with my chances to concieve,I had the surgery performed in january of this year,I was told to wait 3-6months before going back to IVF but to continue taking pre-natals which luckily I did as I fell pregnant the very next cycle,I am now 21 weeks prgnant and as you can imagine still very much in shock! So for me it was definately worth having the resection. All the best Jo > Hello ladies > > Hope you don't mind me asking for your advice. Guest guest
Jo Thanks very much for your story. It is really great to hear things look like they are finally working out for you.I too had a vaginal septum and uterine septum (i have had the vaginal septum removed). With regard to my m/c i do not know if it was a result of the septum as it was not actually detected until afterwards but they think it could be. Wow, 13 goes that impressive. Not sure if i could cope with that many but until we start i suppose i can't say. I think the resection is the best idea (if it can be done) as don't want to go through the emtional and financial stress for it to end in heartache and maybe if you are anything to go by i could end up not needing the ivf! Anyway all the best for the next few months and hope to hear good news form you later this year! Thanks again Nat > > Hello ladies > > > > Hope you don't mind me asking for your advice. Guest guest
Nat- I don't have any experience with IVF, but I do have a septum story for you. I think you mentioned that you have a thick septum, and that's also what I was told... I lost my first pg at 6-7 wks, and that's when they discovered my MA. It took months for a diagnosis. It looked like a septum on the HSG, but my MRI results indicated that the septum was thick & vascular (and therefore had a blood flow & should act more like a BU). The RE sceduled surgery, but then cancelled because they thought there would be a lot of damaging blood loss, and told me to TTC. My second pregnancy *seemed* to be going well, but I found out that I'd lost the baby on the day I turned 18 wks. It had just stopped growing, most likely due to implantation on/near the septum. After that they did a resection (hyst only) and disovered that my septum was not vascular at all, there was absolutely no blood flow to the septum. They had no problem with the resection surgery, so apparently the MRI was misleading. I just wanted to let you know that it can be possible to resect a " thick " septum, but you may need to push for getting enough testing done or having the surgery! Best of luck, Cheryl, SU resected 02/
