Guest guest
Well, I'm now 14w 4days pg. I had an ultrasound at 11 weeks and it was nice. We got to see the baby move and boy did he move!!! I didn't think babies moved so early. Doctor measure his spine/ cervical spine for any abnormalities. She told me that since I'm 35 they have to see if the baby is ok and does not present any anomalies including down syndrome. She told me everything looked normal, so that was a releive. Does anyone got pg at 35 or older and got this test done???? So far I'm still nauseated and praying that it will go away soon. I'm having backaches and I don't know if that is normal. I have gained 8 lbs so far. I have another appointment in two weeks. It's just a visit and checkup no ultrasound this time. I know it might sound silly but on my last ultrasound we were hoping to see the other baby somewere. As you might remember I had an ultrasound done at 6 weeks and there were two heartbeats but at 7 weeks the doctor could only detect one and one empty sac.. I guess we still had our hopes that the other baby was still there.. Sorry, I haven't post or got a chance to read all your posts but last month was horrible. My dh had to have two surgeries 4 days apart..Nothing major but it got complicated. Everything is fine and he is doing great now. However, it was devestating. Guest guest
Hi Congratulations on being almost 15 weeks. I am 16+ weeks so we are pretty close. I am sorry you still feel nauseous and I hope it passes soon. I am over 35 and had the test I think you are referring to-- it's called the first trimester screening and includes the ultrasound you mentioned--to measure the folds on the back of the baby's neck-- plus a blood test to look for levels of certain hormones and then calculate your risk of Downs. I wonder if we are talking about the same test. I found it nervewracking and hard to wait for the blood results, but I was glad I did it because it reassured me that my baby is probably okay at least in terms of that. But of course I am still nervous. That is wonderful that you got to see the baby move. Isn't that great and unbelievable how quickly they develop?! I wish I could have ultrasound every other day. I am sorry that it seems one of your little ones didn't make it?--you thought you had conceived twins and then one of the sacs was empty. That must be disappointing. I am also sorry to hear about the stress you have had to go through with your husband's two surgeries this month. That must have been scary. I am glad he's doing okay now. What a relief that must be. Take care of yourself--feel free to touch base with me via direct email if you want to chat with someone at the same place in pregnancy as you.
