Guest guest
Hi Heidi Thanks for responding and congratulations! My first trimester and half of my second I was with one doctor. That doctor was just a regular OB what had had some experience with MA's. I think to be on the safe side, he had me in for an ultrasound every three weeks just to check on things but he was not very consistant with cervical checks. Then because I moved I started getting seen by a high risk OB practice with three perinatologists. At that point I was about 20 weeks and bascially asked for cervical checks. The first one they did at my 20 week ultrasound where they would be checking the baby also. The second one they just checked the cervix but did not check on the baby. I was dissapointed and I asked my doctor if at my third cervical check he would have the tech check the baby's size. He thought that was a good idea and ordered it. I've basically figure out through all of this that we really are our best advocates and if we feel that a certain test or extra attention to something might be useful the doc. with usually agree. I'm not really sure what the risk of intrauterine growth restriction is with us MA's but it sounded reasonable to me to be concerned about it. So... my advice is to ask if you doctor can put in an order for them to check the baby's size/position at your next cervical check. M.
