Guest guest
I am 51 and just found out definitively that I had UD. Aha, " had " is the " operative " word here because I had a total abdominal hysterectomy (tah) 11 days ago. I'm happy to say that I have two grown children and a grandson, so there's no tragedy there. Their births were, how shall we say, difficult, to say the least. Anyway, here's what I want to share with you young women who are ttc and giving birth. The reason for my tah was a year of excruciatingly agonizing pain. When the dr opened me up even he was shocked at the number and complication of my adhesions -- the apparent cause of the pain. Why the terrible adhesions? Well, as MA women, we are more prone to them. In addition, I had two cesareans, and like many women, I didn't rest. I didn't avoid lifting anything heavy (like a toddler) for six weeks, as prescribed. I didn't take more than two days off of housework. I didn't leave the driving or grocery shopping to someone else. I didn't really have a choice as there was no one to help me with my two premature infants, but I just want you to know that you must be strong and INSIST that you get the help you need when your babies are born by cesarean or when you have any other major abdominal surgery. Please accept this word from the wise to help you avoid years of future suffering.
Guest guest
Thanks so much for sharing your story. I know that it is very easy to shift into " mommy mode " and to forget about taking care of ourselves when everyone else is depending on us! You offer good advice, though, and I appreciate that you took the time to share it. Hope that you have a smooth recovery and that your surgery will finally alleviate all of the pain that you've experienced. Best wishes, UU, 31 14w, 4d w/ #
