Guest guest
Hi Carey, congratulations to you as well, 16 weeks, that is fantastic. You're already well past the most 'dangerous' time for SUs, i.e., the first trimester!! Several women on the board have had successful pregnancies with partial and complete SUs intact. Both SU and BU have risks re: pre-term labour, possible growth restriction, but again, many women with MAs don't experience either. We do have to be vigilent, however, esp. to the signs of PTL. My 'near-normal' pregnancy: I had spotting in the first trimester and a massive 'gushing' bleed of bright red blood at 14 weeks. The bleeding lasted for hours, I was admitted to hospital, convinced I had lost the baby. In the end I had placenta previa - my placenta totally covered my cervix. The baby was fine. Apparently women with MAs are also at a slightly higher risk for placenta previa. I was ordered off work until my placenta 'migrated' and cleared the cervix - this happened at 20 weeks. At 29 weeks my cervix started to become 'dynamic' and started funnelling. I was ordered off work again due to ptl fears, and put on modified bed rest. In the end, despite doctors who were convinced I'd have my daughter by 32 or 33 weeks, my dd was born at 40 weeks 1 day, healthy and weighing 7lbs13oz. The delivery was rough, again possibly due to the SU. My contractions were never well organised, long labour, extreme blood loss, retained placenta issues for 2 weeks after her birth. BUT, in the end, we were both fine!! Congrats again, keep us posted on how things are going. Cheers, a Complete SU, unresected DD almost 16 months 4 weeks 1 day with #
