Guest guest
Hi ladies - I've enjoyed this group for awhile, but have always ignored questions related to resection surgery. After a lab/hysteroscopy 4 years ago I was told by my former gyn that I would NOT benefit from resection. A few months later I became pregnant and had a non- eventful, full-term pregnancy. I've been ttc for 2 years now and have been doing the infertility thing for awhile. Anyway, I recently figured out that I probably had endometriosis and requested my RE do a lap. She was excited about doing so and being able to do a hysteroscopy to see for herself the configurations of my " cool " abnormal reproductive organs. Well, yesterday I went in for what I thought would be just a routine lap, removal of any endometriosis, and exploratory hysteroscopy. When I awoke I found out from my husband that my RE had explained to him that she had gone ahead and done a resection. She told him she was amazed that I had ever been able to have a successful pregnancy and now had a good understanding of why I've had 8 (yes, eight) unsuccessful rounds of injectables/IUI. (I haven't really been a candidate for IVF b/c of low FSH, so we've been sticking with the lower-tech IUIs.) I never expected to have resection yesterday, so I have lots of Q's. I wish I'd been paying attention to all of those posts re: resection, but I never thought it applied to me. I'm really glad she did it, though, as my husband said she seemed really pleased and positive about it. So, now, maybe we'll have success ttc. (Of course, HIS big question is " It didn't occur to her to do this, say, maybe $10,000 ago???? " I don't really fault her though, as she did have another doctor's records, apparently her interpretation was just different.) We have long known that I have UD (2 obvious cervical openings) with some type of division, but I'm suspecting that I actually have a combination of anomalies - I think someone used the term " anomalous anomoly " recently. But I won't really know more about that until my RE is back from vacation next week.... (In the meantime I'm enjoying looking at the photos she left with my husband - dozens of gorgeous photos. I'm amazed at the technology that allows for such great photography inside the body.) I'm actually feeling great - thank you, Percoset! - today, just some soreness. What I'm really wondering is why my RE gave my husband rx's for Provera and Premarin that I must take for 2 months before ttc again. I've been doing a lot of reading and think that that is b/c of the endometriosis. But, is that standard after routine resection also? I'd really appreciate any other thoughts/suggestions after resection. Susi 43 3 yo son (and his 7 kitty sibs!) ttc #2 2 years UD and ??????
