Guest guest
Hi Val and Nick, Next week I have to talk to my functional medicine doctor about increasing my bio-identical estrogen as I have had to use more than the RX is for to alleviate night sweats and other menopausal symptoms. I have been avoiding this conversation because while he requested my RT3 test he also looked at it and said all was well “No ’s syndrome” with a ratio that Val said was 12. I have been self-treating for 13 weeks. Also my TSH was 13.5 in February because I was on Iodoral by prescription after taking an Iodine Loading test and showing a deficiency. I am now on week 13 of T3 only and increasing Cynomel incrementally (now back at 81.25) until I don’t feel hypo anymore and my temps are normal. I can’t afford a total blood panel at the moment and I am just wondering if it would be advisable to just forego the extra estrogen for awhile until everything is optimal? I feel like my hormones might balance themselves better once my thyroid hormones are optimal and my feeling is my doctor, while better than average, is still in the dark when it comes to T3, Iodine and also BHT. I guess I am afraid that he will quit treating me when or if he finds out I am self treating with T3 and then I will lose my bio-identical prescription. I know this is not strictly about RT3 but if possible I would appreciate some advice. Thanks so much, Kris P.S. Val thanks for the recommendation on places to get mercury thermometers. www.Horse.com was great to deal with and their service was impeccable.
