My doctor told me that hashimotos causes low ferritin, and if you have high iron in general you shouldn't be concerned about low ferritin. I am not sure what to think of this. Every time I supplement iron I get iron overload numbers in my test results, so I am trying to figure out what to do Liz, I'm, not sure I buy what your Dr is telling you. I have Hashi's and my Ferritin is always high..right now it's in the 300's but I have read that if your body is harboring high inflammation, (which mine does) this will increase Ferritin. It's difficult to know what to accept anymore. Confusion reigns when we are seen by so many different Dr's for so many different things and the findings are never shared between offices. Because of this lack of sharing, I keep a notebook of everything that is tested, said or proven and then make sure each Dr has copies of it all. What is your ferritin when you don't take supps? Kathleen ?
