Guest guest
" At what point did you have a baseline cervical measurement done? How frequently were you monitored afterward? " My peri checked me early (I can't remember when exactly), but said early measurements can be inaccurate. By the late teens, he was measuring every two weeks via transvaginal u/s. Then he checked each week in the mid-twenties to thirty-two weeks. This may be more frequent than most, though, since mine was a twin pregnancy. Good luck with your pregnancy. Guest guest
Hi Get a cervical measurement by transvag u/s at your next appt - the danger zone for us can start with the second trimester - which you are now in. I lost my ds at 21w because my dr's screwed this up - I had a nuchal test which seemed to indicate downs - an amnio at 16w indicated there was nothing wrong with my son but between 11w and 17w I did not have any cervical checks because my ob was convinced my child had downs. I was supposed to have a cerclage put in (where they sew the cervix shut, this is a good thing to do if you are worried about IC but some dr's don't like to if there is not prior indication). So I got no cerclage, and no measurements and when I finally had my measurement for the cerclage I was down to 1.7, anything over 3.5 is good - longer is better. So I had an emergency cerclage - which almost always fail - mine failed at 21 weeks. Now, what makes me really mad is that we don't know if I had IC or if the amnio caused the loss. ANd there is no way to know because my idiot dr's didn't check me because they considered the nuchal result more worrisome (which is why for my next pg, I will only see a peri not a regular ob - mine thought she could handle it and couldn't). From the baseline, even if you look good, I would try to get a measurement every two weeks till your out of the danger zone - 28 weeks - me, I might ask for them weekly, but that's because I have a prior loss. I hope this helps, mine is such a negative story but I don't want anyone else to go through it - so my mantra is get that cervix checked!!!
