Guest guest
Well it was an intense few days between gathering my information and setting up phone apoint with my doc. I had his assistant send me the labs from april so I could review them prior to the phone apoint. although both my RT3 and Free T3 had gone down the ratio was worse. I had gone from a resulting number of 15 after the division in feb to 13 in April. I was not surprised since i had so much fatigue and had gained 15 lbs since March without having done anything differenty. One thing I have to say about my doc is that he is open minded, wants to learn, and listens. he was only familiar with T3 only treatement in regards to wilson's work/theories and was unaware of how to determine the RT3 issue in dividing into the FreeT3. But he took it all in. I had sent him the links several times but until we talked I don't think he really read the info. Anyway after 30 minutes he had agreed to start me on the Cytomel 25mcg tabs cut in quarters and taken 3 to 4 hours apart during the day and increasing slowly as needed/tollerated. I finaly got my first dose of 6.25 mcg yesterday afternoon about 2 PM. last night I was really hungry after supper and allowed myself a small bowl of unsweetened puffed brown rice and lowfat milk (something I rarely would do, especially in the eve) and yet overnight I lost a half a pound. I have more energy than i have had in about 8 months. I love not having to go 3 hours before taking meds and then waiting an hour to eat. I bought a really good pill splitter and i have ordered a medical alert bracelet that says " on T3 only myxedeme " on the front and my docs' phone # (at his suggestion) on the back. I am also taking Nick's suggestion and carrying meds with me whenever i leave the house. off to a promising start and feeling cautiously optomistic, Sharon
