I did not have a lap, my resection was hyst only. Since I had an MRI -

which showed the outer contour of my uterus - the doctor felt

confident that I was definitely SU and that he would not accidently

cut past the septum. If I had not had an MRI I probably would have

pushed for the lap just to be safe. Have you had any tests to

determine what the outside of your uterus looks like?

Since I did not have the lap - recovery was very easy. I did not need

general anethesia and had very little pain or bleeding. I felt fine

the day after surgery.

Cheryl,

No, I have not had an MRI. I am not sure about the 3D u/s image,

because it's very hard for me to visualize (I have copies of those

pictures) so I can't tell if the outer contour is flat or not. That's

precisely why I wasn't sure that just a hyst would be sufficient given

everything I've read.

Hopefully I can talk with the doctor about my concerns at the pre-op

consultation.

thanks for your response!

I had the same case as Cheryl. I had a MRI done last November so my

RE knew the outside shape. I had 2 resections (July 05 and October

05 - about 4 weeks ago) and I didn't have a lap either time. My RE

(who I really trust) said that she had no reason to do the lap since

she knew the outside shape. She said she only would recommend the

lap at that point if she was worried about tube issues or endo, which

we weren't. I would definitely confirm that the 3D u/s gave them a

clear indication of the outside shape. If it didn't, then I can

understand why you would want the lap. When I went for my second

surgery I actually did consider asking my RE to do the lap so that if

we still have problems conceiving I wouldn't have to have a lap

later.

Good luck!
