Guest guest
Sheryl- I just thought I'd chime in with my experience. I had a subseptate uterus, so it was only a partial septum but very broad. This was diagnosed through MRI, HSG, and finally a hyst. I guess it pretty much covered the entire fundus of my uterus. Since they couldn't find anything else wrong, this septum was blamed for my 2 losses, a first trimester loss and a second trimester loss at 18 weeks. In both cases, the babies appeared to have implanted on/near the septum. I had no cervix problems or anything, the problem appeared to be the lack of good blood flow. I remember reading the articles about pregnancy successes in septate vs. subseptate, and my RE actually told me that he thought a subseptate uterus like mine may be more likely to cause losses. I know that this is not a *proven* fact, but it did seem to hold true in my case. I think it really comes down to where the baby implants. If your septum covers a very broad area, like mine, then the chances it will implant on septum are pretty high. Since I had no successes and 2 losses, I didn't want to risk it again! I had the resection, which was no big deal at all. Now I'm currently 26w4d pregnant and things seem to be going well this time (I'm still cautiously optimistic about it though!).
