Hi e--

I am happy to give you recommendations, in and near Manhattan. The

first RE I saw in Rye, NY was Dr. Stangel. He is well-known,

respected and used by many women in Westchester County. He got my

diagnosis right (SU) (via saline ultrasound--SHG) and I considered

using him for both surgery and infertility work--but I did not go with

him because I found him to be not the best personality match for me--I

liked others better (but he seems like a nice man, and very expert). I

am not recommending the second opinion place I used--Columbia--Dr.

Choi--because I found her to be a little cold and she got a different

Dx than the other two--and didn't recommend I go ahead with the

lap/hyst. surgery to be sure, and wanted me to just try again, going

with the assumption that I had BU (which turned out to be wrong) and

stating that there was no recourse for me. The third opinion was Dr.

Alan Copperman at Mt. Sinai in NYC, who used 3-D ultrasound to

determine that I was SU (agreeing with the 1st opinion of Dr. Stangel).

He was my " tiebreaker, " and also said we needed to go in with the

lap/hyst to be sure and correct it if applicable. I ended up using him

for my surgery. He did a great job, did thorough follow-up testing and

he and his staff were very kind. He's also pretty well-known and

regarded in NYC. Ultimately, I went with another office for my actual

fertility treatments (I had a blocked tube removed during my resection

surgery, and needed Clomid to try to stimulate more egg production from

both ovaries). The office I used for this is Westchester also--the

Montefiore Institute for Reproductive Medicine in Hartsdale, NY. They

were great and also have some well-regarded REs, who may be good at

diagnosing and treating MAs. Some of their docs I have heard good

things about are Dr. Lieman and Dr. Pollack. Let me know if you are

interested and need phone #s for any of these. I recommend more than

one opinion if you are at all uncertain about your MA.

Hi Jen:

Would you share the names of the dr.'s you consulted with in nyc?

I live about 1 hour from Manhattan and would love some

recommendations. I am still waiting for my MRI results from my

ob/gyn. My DH and I have not yet ttc (would very much like to),

because during a sono, they saw a BU or UU, said it was not

conclusive.
