Guest guest
Hi Robin, welcome to the group. what a history you have, and this is very interesting to me bc i suspect there is a genetic vector in MAs (my sis, mom and aunt)- but have always been told by docs that is garbage. anyway your ?: i am SU (not resected), now almost 34 wk preg. i had had a lot of pain around 21 weeks in my preg, esp in cervix. the cervical pains (sharp, breath-taking at times) have continued on and off. i was told at harvard med school where i am cared for in the maternal and fetal med department that this cervical pain is from exaggerated " ectropia " where the cervix has a layer of cells on it that make the cervix extra tender (is not dangerous and of no harm to baby, just annoying)- however, i have also undergone cervical monitoring every 2 weeks from about week 16 and my cervix has remained long (=good). bc you havent had this kind of monitoring i would recommend you get it. my pelvic pain was attributed to my history of endometriosis /scarring which can hurt as the uterus grows around this time. however you should ask yourr doc- does it feel like period cramping? try to remain hopeful for this baby, bc worrying isnt going to do anything positive for the baby except in the case where it prompts you to seek additional medical monitoring/ reassurance from you doc. re; left side vs. right side - again if you havent been preg on left side there is no way to know how the uterus is going to behave in this case but your history of multiple successful pregnancies is certainly very positive. be assertive with your doc or GO TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!!! are you being seen in a maternal /fetal med practice that specializes in high-risk pregs or by a perinataologist? i would go there. if your doc isnt responsive to your worries- it could mean that he observes nothing wrong- so that could be a good sign- but i think more monitoring is ALWAYS warranted in MAS and hes possibly being more lax bc of your success preg history. if nothing else, demand a clear medical rationale (point by point) of why doing every 2 wk ultrasound s for cervical length monitoring after 20 weeks ISN'T warranted in your case- since that is the standard of practice everywhere else (why are you so unique that you shouldnt get standard of care?)- really challenge him and tell him about this site and that the large majority of women being properly treated for MAs get that level of care. Many prayers and wishes for you and your baby, Heidi > > > >
