Guest guest
Kris -- Welcome. If your doctor thinks you don't have a septum, what is she telling you about the shape of your uterus? Septate uteri are believed to have the highest miscarriage rate, while other MAs have different problems, but generally can carry through the first and second trimesters without incident. Also, you should know that a HSG, at least in these parts, is considered interesting, but not definitive. Saline ultrasounds and MRIs are better, but the gold standard for diagnosis of an MA is a laparoscopy/hysteroscopy performed by a RE. The RE looks at both the exterior and interior of your uterus to determine the true shape and if a septum exists, it can be resected at that time. You should know that many of us who have/had septums were originally told we didn't and it took an experienced RE and a lap/hyst to accurately diagnose us. For example, I was told I was BU, then t-shaped, when I was really SU. I lost two pregnancies prior to my resection and am now 21w6d pregnant again. If you are relying on an OB for a diagnosis, please ask for a referral to an RE as soon as possible. MA diagnosis and treatment is often covered by insurance, so it's worth a consultation... Good luck! , SU (resected 12/04), 2 m/c, 21w6d pg

Guest guest
Kris: Welcome to the boards. I agree with . The first question is are your seeing an RE? I would get an opinion from an RE regarding your uterus. As said many of us were misdiagnosed. I was first diagnosed as UD, then BU through an MRI and u/s. After my second RE, my current RE diagnosed me with a SU with a BU fundus or top of the uterus. I had my resection surgery and I am TTC #1. Personally, I would seek an RE at a large teaching hospital in your area and like stated the best way for diagnosis is the lap/hys. Take care, Ally resected SU w/BU fundus 1 m/c TTC 1 --------------------------------- Yahoo! Sports Rekindle the Rivalries. Guest guest
I am military and the first step is seeing a fertility specialist who will then send me to an RE. I will be with this specialist for three months and then if i am not pregnant within three months, she will send me on to their RE at the same office. the hospital that my dr is associated with is the largest in the area and is a teaching hospital. She is very well known and has a very good history. I did a lot of research before chosing what dr i chose for my referral. The HSG was really clear and she's the most proactive dr i have had yet. None of my other dr's even said anything about an HSG, or did anything but put me on clomid. and that was on cycle. This dr in conjunction with my primary care physician has done more blood work than I have had done in my life and have been ordering tests beyond my imagination. So I think that they will rule out everything. She wanted us to try after the HSG and on CD 28 if not pregnant to have the MRI to rule out and get a better look at the uterus. does that make sense? sorry i am really new to all of this!
