Guest guest
Dear All, Could someone help me interpret my mum's labs? She is 58, has arthritis of the hip, hasn't been able to sleep well for years (sleeps one night and then the next night she is up all night and can't sleep). She is overweight and has high cholesterol despite a strict diet. I have hashimotos and we think so did her mum (my grandmother) We know my gran had a goiter and her thyroid removed but we are not sure what went on. These are mum's labs Serum Ferritin 166 (10-120) Serum Iron 19 (14-30) TSH 2.32 (0.4-5) FT4 11.5 (10-22) Our doctor refuses to test FT3 and antibodies. Should we get these done privately? I understand the iron labs indicate inflammation. Could that be the arthritis? Should she take some iron? If so how much? I've been trying to work this out on my own but I'm getting a bit stuck.
