Guest guest
hi laurie i'm gabi and i had a partial SU that took 70% of my uterus' capacity - i had a preemie boy (33 weeks) in 2001 and his pg (my 1st) was completely normal with just the usual monitoring right up till the day he was born (i had placental abruption, started bleeding and i had a c/s). at the time drs thought i was BU and neither them nor i worried about it (all of us were ignorant ). after having my son i got pg x 2 and mc x 2 (6/04 and 1/05) so i had a hsg and a lap/hyst and since my septum was avascular the RE opted for the resection (with my consent). after my 2nd mc (a chromosomally normal boy, 10.5 weeks old) i found out about my SU but also about a blood clotting disorder (homozygous MTHFR C677T) and it happens that both my problems (SU and MTHFR) are related to placental abruption and recurrent loss among other issues - so i guess i'll never know which defect caused which problem/loss - just in case i opted for the resection to at least take some of the issues out of the way - i understand the decision of having surgery is a very hard one and i wish you luck with yours - i personally know that i would have been a wreck during the whole pg if the septum was still in place so knowing that my uterus is cuasi-normal gives me a little more hope - i know i'm gonna be a wreck anyway and i do have my blood disorder and so many other things in my mind anyway but at least the septum is out of the equation. on the other hand i'm still amazed (and so grateful) at the fact that my pg with my son was so uneventful for 33 weeks - this is proof that not all SU mean problems - i hope you can make a decision you're comfortable with and i wish you the best in your road ahead - you do deserve to have a baby in your arms soon after all you've been through best of luck and a big hug gabi
