Guest guest
Hi everyone - Thanks for all of your feedback following my surprise resection sx last week. I'm scheduled to go back to my RE on Monday for my post-resection follow-up. She's been on vacation since my surgery and I haven't been able to talk to her at all, but I have so many questions. Just when I thought I understand all of the Mullerian variants, and after going through a previous lap/hyst and successful pg, I get confused again. Please help me to clarify some things for my own understanding, and so that I won't sound like a dork when I meet with her. 1) What I know for sure: I have 2 cervical openings and 2 distinct uterine sides, so that makes me UD. Right? (What I won't know until I can talk to her is whether my 2 sides are only partially separated or fully separated, which I think differentiates UD from bicollis BU (thanks Ann!). Right?) 2) Since last week I've been closely looking at one very good ultrasound pix of my little boy from 3 years ago. In it my little munchkin is on the right side of a " butterfly " -shaped uterus. (I wouldn't really call it " heart " -shaped.) So, obviously, there is a deep indentation, although it then blurs and I can't tell how far it goes. So, that shape would imply BU, right? 3) From a previous lap/hyst I was told that I DIDN'T need resection b/c of the nature of the division, so that would also imply BU, right? BUT, after my surgery last week, my RE told my husband that the division, which she removed, was very " muscular " . (Of course, having no clue about these things, he may have misunderstood!!!) So, my question is: BU divisions are typically muscular right, and are NOT indicated for resection, right? Resections are typically done on the less vascular wall of SUs, right? From all that I've read it just doesn't seem that resection of muscular/vascularized divisions are indicated. (?????????????) 4) It seems from my research that a follow-up HSG is standard after resection. (?????) If so, THIS time I'm insisting on STRONG drugs, or taking my own with me - yeah, the pain is brief, but pretty awful!!!! I'm so confused right now. I just want to once-and-for-all know definitively before jumping back into the ttc maze of countless appointments, injections and vaginal ultrasounds. Ugh..... THANK Y'ALL SO MUCH for your support and help - this is a WONDERFUL group! I'll definitely check back in Monday after my appointment. Susi 43 (That loud sound you hear is my " clock ticking " !)
