Guest guest
Indian Food on the Beach? I love eating ethnic food, especially Indian dishes. What should I avoid, and enjoy, at those restaurants? - Corey S., Seattle, WA In general, Indian food is a fine choice for South Beach Dieters since the cuisine is based on the right carbs, such as chickpeas and lentils, and nutrient-rich vegetables like spinach and eggplant. However, some Indian dishes are cooked using bad fats, and in combination with starchy carbs like white potatoes and rice. Your best bet is to stick to items that are not deep-fried, cooked with cream, slathered in sauce, or accompanied by processed carbs. Good choices include dal (lentils), tandoori meats, raitas (tart yogurt side dish), and chana (chickpeas). Enjoy! Orchid
