Guest guest
>>I have a recipe that calls for shortening. Can I substitute the same amount of margarine for the shortening? Just am not sure how they will turn out with this substitution.<< There's no allowed margarine that will be a perfect substitute for shortening. The problem is that the allowed ones like Promise are spreads, with a high water content. You need pure fat. :-) In general, I think pure margarine can be substituted for shortening, but it's not SBD friendly. That said, I don't think there's any harm in making the attempt with a spread -- just don't expect the same consistency and alter baking times as necessary. Guest guest
What are you making that needs 'shortening?' Just curious. I rarely see that in a recipe these days. > > > > >>I have a recipe that calls for shortening. Can I substitute the same > amount > of margarine for the shortening?
