Guest guest
The apple discovery may be a really useful one for you. The antihistimine is a good idea. You may want to research food allergies on the web and see if there are other foods that would corollate with a sensitivity to apples. I did a quick search on google about " apple allergy " and came up with a couple of things that look promising: There is a paper that seems to be offering the idea that people who are allergic to apples are also allergic to birch pollen and may have cross sensitivies to the " rosaceae " fruit -- including apple, apricot, cherry, peach, pear, and plum. Apple pectin is also used to thicken foods, add fiber, etc. Last week I heard a story on the radio that researchers had announced groups of foods that seemed to cause allergic symptoms in people already known to be allergic to certain kinds of pollen. It was really interesting... people allergic to one kind of tree or grass pollen were more likely to be allergic to certain fruits and vegetables. It was really interesting. This seems to follow that path. Good luck, Suzi __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I've never had a problem with apples or apple juice. I have a Gala apple everyday with my lunch and have never experienced a flush or that is causes my rosacea to get worse. That's interesting (and odd!) Apples > I have long known that apple juice upsets my stomach and makes me > sick from both ends,if you know what I mean.I try an avoid anything > with apple juice in. Generally I can eat apples and cooked apple > products. This afternoon I ate an apple (I think it was a pink lady) > and had a severe burning flush, I can still feel it although it is > fading - it is more prominent on one cheek. > > Tommorrow I will experiment with another apple and see if it happens > again, if it does I will try an antihistamine, or somehting else if > anyone can suggest any ideas. > > By the Way, I thought I had a mild case and thats what my fist derm > told me, but after looking at the photos, I am really red compared to > most of them - not very good But my GP is treating it seriously. > > But what about the apple thing? > > > > -- > Please read the list highlights before posting to the whole group (http://rosacea.ii.net/toc.html) > > See http://www.drnase.com for info on his recently published book. > > To leave the list send an email to rosacea-support-unsubscribe > >
Guest guest
I am very grateful for the post on apples. It struck me because before according to my daughter, she never saw me without an apple in my hand. I could not put my finger on what it was even now with one a day. If one eliminates these, which I have to, and add those containing argenine (kiwi, berries), what's left except bananas?
Guest guest
>I live in an area known for apples. Honey Crisp is all the rage. >Because it's new and in demand, it costs about twice as much as >regular apples. same here. but that's actually good news for me, as i'm a big fan of mutsu apples and they USED to be all the rage before. >I like Gala myself. agreed! gala, fuji, and mutsu are my loves. ~risa
Guest guest
I love the fuji. Not too sweet, not to bland.
Guest guest
There is something very disturbing about soft apples as far as I'm concerned Paola > > Yuck! I can't stand soft apples either. Guest guest
I'm going to MN tomorrow. Believe me, if I see a sign for Honey Crisp I'll stock up! They're the best. dd > > Come to Minnesota! Our orchards are still running. >
