Guest guest
Hot Cocoa on a Cold Day? Are you nostalgic for the taste and comfort of hot chocolate on a chilly fall or winter day? Good news! You can enjoy hot cocoa if you're following The South Beach DietT lifestyle - as long as you choose a version made with a sugar substitute. Most traditional hot cocoas contain a lot of added sugar, but you can find varieties made with artificial sweeteners. However, as with other artificially sweetened products, be careful not to overdo it. These products may contain sugar alcohols, which can cause intestinal distress if consumed in large quantities. Also, remember to check the label on your hot cocoa mix for trans fats, which you'll want to avoid. Once your cocoa pasts muster, go ahead and enjoy a mug as a sweet treat in moderation - no more than 75-100 calories per day. If hot cocoa is not your thing, but you're still looking for a warm drink with a little more pizzazz than regular tea or coffee, try a cup of chai tea. Remember to choose a brand without added sugar or honey (those packaged in tea bags are usually best) and enjoy with a touch of nonfat milk or soy milk.
