Guest guest
Hi, Debi, welcome to this wonderful WOL (Way Of Life). Hang in there, it will get wonderfully better, probably real soon. Just remember to drink lots of water. Just walking back and forth to the bathroom will be lots of exercise . Guest guest
My family has adjusted to this way of eating pretty well. My kids don't even blink when we make hamburgers, but don't use buns. They don't complain (much) about not having white bread. They haven't had spaghetti in eons. See if you can incorporate more things that you all can enjoy, and then add one or two side dished that just you or just they can eat. ie
Guest guest
It took me a little while to get beyond that " diet " idea. My kids certainly do not need to lose weight either, but will it really hurt them to eat less starch and sugar? too eat more fiber and vegetables? Heck no! They still get some treats that I don't get (and I get some they don't get too!) but I don't want to raise them to think that only heavy people need healthy diets. ie

Guest guest
It is about making choices. I have been discouraged with a slow loss also these past few weeks, but it will come. It is either quit and most probably gain, or stick with it and lose eventually while doing my body good.do my body good . Last night I was sat a basketball game in one of this suites. My friend bought over a tray of chocolate cake, cheese cakes, pastries and chocolate cups with a little liquor in it. Off the beach I would have had at least 3-4 things...last nigh all I had was the chocolate cup! I really had no desire for the cakes. I am not sure if it was this group or not, but there was a quote going around a few weeks ago... " nothing tastes as good as healthy feels " I believe the original version was " nothing tastes as good as skinny looks " ---- Original Message ----- From: kris To: South-Beach-Diet-Getting-It-Right Sent: Saturday, November 05, 2005 4:25 AM Subject: Re: debi total i've lost about 7-8 pounds i think . Me family had a get together where I couldn't eat anything they had and was trying to tell me that it would be ok to .(big choc. cake and ham with brown suger ) boy I wanted some bad but I didn't I had a pc. of f/f turkey and water and left it at that . I guess I want this really bad so that's why i did eat with them i keep telling myself one more week then it will be better. Then Tuesday my mom and grandma came to visit and we went to olive gardan salad and soup is what I had while they ate all the stuff i used to eat.... but I did great ...so we CAN do this with the help of this group I find it alot easier then by myself.....You help me and I'll help you.....and besides I like your name it's my mom's name :0) How much weight have you lost so far? Re: No More Stress-Eating! I am stressed and discouraged and need a word of encouragement. I am sooooo sick and tired of shopping for something SBD friendly spending extra money for something to eat in place of the good stuff my family is eating go to all the work of cooking something seperate look forward to it and then it tastes like CRAP so again wasted money when I throw it out . AAAHHHH sorry to dump this on here. I know there are some things that are good but I often try new things and I hate them. Like today I made a low carb (expensive pasta) and a no sugar pasta sauce. The sauce was Ok not great but ok.But the pasta @$7.00 a pound tasted like wax. I am not a big eater I get full with just a few bites so I think I'd rather eat a few bites of something I enjoy than a whole plate of something awful. Also sometimes the things that are ok on the list like special dark choc chips to make desert have more sug carbs and fat than a regular item. I have found this serveral times. I am usually such a positive fun loving person but I have been hard to get along with and find myself discouraged and angry alot. I'd love to delete this and not send it but I am having a bad day and this makes several in a row so I need some encouragement and I know I can get it here without being judged. That sounds more like an Atkins way of thinking than SBD. When I have burgers or hot dogs, I use whole grain buns. My kids eat lots of spaghetti -- it's one of their favorite finger foods. They don't care if it's whole wheat, soy, or semolina -- it's all the same to them.
Guest guest
I always have eaten burgers without buns. For some reason, it's just how my family did it growing up. Then, I found out I was allergic to wheat at age 30 and that was even more of a reason to skip the buns. I still never eat them, although before SBD, I would occasionally " cheat " with my wheat allergy and eat one on a bun at a restaurant. We don't eat much spaghetti here either due to the wheat allergy, but then again, I didn't eat much pasta even before I knew I was allergic, since we didn't eat it much when I was growing up. ann > > > My family has adjusted to this way of eating pretty well. Guest guest
, We ate them on a plate with a fork, sometimes with gravy, along with vegetables, potatoes, etc., just like you would do with a steak. I still do this. I never even tasted Ramen noodles. My daughter eats them, and my son did, but I never have, since I'm allergic. You'd think I'd have grown up eating a lot of pasta, since my grandmother from Italy raised me, but she only made it occasionally, with homemade sauce or with butter and grated cheese. She just cooked American food most of the time. ann > I'm curious -- how did your family eat them? On a plate with a fork, in > lettuce, or...? > > Pasta's been a staple of mine for many years.
