Guest guest
Tina, First off, whatever works best for you is going to be best for Blake also! You both have to be happy in a good BF relationship. I don't know that I would/could tolerate biting like that. You may want to just hand express off enough milk to relieve the engorgement, gradually your body will adjust & stop producing the milk. I think this is how it works, anyway, I am not 100% certain. I am sorry that things are not going well. However, you have given your son a precious gift for all the time that things have worked well for you. Good luck!!!! Guest guest
Thanks . I was just afraid that I would get a lot of flack from people b/c I wanted to wean Blake. I did do the hand expressing this morning a little and it did help. I was still full, but the tiny bit I got out did relieve the pressure. Maybe I will just keep going with that. Guest guest
I also have heard that cabbage leaves help with the engorgement..and my mom said in her day they used to 'tie you up' (wrap cloth tighly around your chest) sounds unpleasant doesn't it?? LOL...I'd try the cabbage! And try not to express too much as it can give your body the wrong signals! (Oct 8/98) EDD 06/17/01 need help with weaning First of all let me say that I am writing this for real help, not to be insulted for me decision or to have my mind changed. Thanks... I decided to start weaning Blake this week. I have been thinking about it for a while, but the biting was sort of the last draw. I had planned to take out a feeding a week, you know, do it gradually. He was only nursing four times a day, so about a month. Unfortunately he has other ideas. He doesn't mind the formula at all and is happy with the bottle and cup. He immediately dropped his two day time feedings and went to morning and night. This was Tuesday. On Wednesday he barely nursed before bed and after only a few minutes decided biting was more fun. Thursday night, no bed time nursing at all before the biting started. I have tried the bed time nursing every night because I need him to nurse. He is still nursing first thing in the morning, but this morning wasn't too interested in that. So here's my question: How can I relieve the engorgement that I am having? Blake doesn't want to wean gradually so what can I do? Is there anything I can do to help my breasts stop producing milk quicker? Thanks.
