When I started I didn't want to be hungry, didn't want to count anything, didn't want to think too hard about what to eat. The South Beach fit the bill for me. It's been very easy for me to lose most of the weight. You are coming to the Beach with a completely different mindset. You want to count things and measure stuff and make sure you follow all the rules to perfection. Relax and let the Beach work for you. Eat the required meals and snacks. Keep to the Foods to Enjoy list, choosing the things you like from that list. Don't worry about calories or points. We don't count them on the Beach. Keep focused on what you have accomplished and what good you are doing to your health. You can do this. If it were hard I wouldn't be here. Ann hayakawa@... Guest guest
> Well -- on the nuts -- YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE 1/4 SERVING PER DAY, RIGHT? OR 15 > NUTS TOTAL PER DAY, RIGHT??? There is a different count for each nut. Look at the allowed foods list. You can have less brazil nuts than almonds, for instance, since brazil nuts are bigger. But, I just use the 1/4 cup measure, as they all measure out to about that. Or you can have peanut butter/cashew butter/almond butter instead. Check the list of allowed foods, as I'm not sure if it's 1 or 2 Tbsp daily. > OKAY. WHERE?? IN WHAT FILE? http://heartdisease.about.com/cs/cholesterol/a/raiseHDL.htm and http://heartdisease.about.com/cs/cholesterol/a/Transfat.htm . It is written by a doctor and explains about good fats and about how eating too little good fats can lead to low HDL levels. It explains how you need enough fats to raise HDL for heart health. > WOW. The amount of good fats allowed on SBD won't make you gain, as it's really not that much, just enough for heart health and to keep you full. Make sure you drink enough water, too. I didn't lose on Atkins, either, but they had NO limits on fat or fatty meats or fatty dairy and all the fat was unhealthy saturated fats. This is different. ann
Guest guest
You'd only be eating the phase 1 part of the breakfast, so the English muffin wouldn't apply here. And we don't count points. That's the beauty of SBD, no counting. The reason you have to count points on WW is that WW allows some " bad " foods, so you have to watch the point count. With SBD, the bad foods are cut out, and the remaining combination of good foods is what makes it work. Sure, if you are eating 3000 calories a day of SBD foods, it would be a problem. But, you won't be eating that much. Try eggbeaters. They have no yolk. ann > > Because it seems like SUCH a huge breakfast and because I just haven't been losing and > because egg yolks DO have fat in them, and because. . . because.... well, because I'm > conditioned to think that if you eat THAT much then you're gonna gain. Here is an observation, which almost everyone here on the list can attest to. Since you don't have a lot of weight to lose, you might not lose much on Phase 1, and Phase 2 might go very slowly for you. The more weight you have to lose, the quicker you will see results.
