Hi everyone, As far as I know it is standard practice at least in Queensland to do the barium swallow within 24 hours of the op so they can tell that the band is working before you are able to drink anything at all. I didn't have the swallow as there is some question as to whether I could be allergic to iodine so my surgeon said the risk wasn't worth it so I had an x-ray instead. When I started drinking I was closely monitored for problems but I was fine. , I would be looking into this issue further as I think it should have been done, my case was an exception and I still had the x-ray first before I was allowed to drink anything. I hope that as time goes on that you will be feeling so much better. Marina, I think at some stage everyone has felt as you do lately, I know I have and my thoughts are with you.
