I lost the 40 lbs by diet alone in > 9 months! FWIW, you might want to try working a little exercise into your day, in between other things. There's a whole " office exercise " movement out there. There are also other, little things you can do to make the most of the time you have; things like taking stairs instead of elevators, a couple of 3 pound dumbbells at your desk to work with while reading through a document, and so forth.
