Guest guest
On phase 1, you should be having a snack about two hours after you eat your meal to keep your blood sugar balanced. Then, you won't get hungry. No, you don't have to work to have a snack. You can grab a string cheese stick or two, you can grab 1/4 cup of cashews or almonds, you can eat 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds, you can grab a couple slices of lowfat lunchmeat, you can grab a couple slices of lowfat cheese slices, you can grab a container of sugarfree yogurt, you can grab some olives (I think it's 10), you can grab a leftover cold chicken breast, you can grab 1/2 cup of lowfat cottage cheese. It's best to prepare ahead of time, so you don't have to do any work when it's snack time. You can measure the whole jar of nuts into 1/4 cup ziploc bags and then take one bag with you wherever you go. You can cut and wash the celery when you buy it, and stick it into a ziploc bag and then when you want some, just whip out a stick or two and bring it with you. Put 1 Tbsp peanut butter or lowfat cream cheese or hummus in it. You can dice up a couple bell peppers when you buy them and put them in ziploc bags and eat one bag at snack time. You can do the same with zucchini or cucumbers. You can make a dozen hard boiled eggs ahead of time and pop one into your mouth for a snack. Bring individually wrapped string cheese sticks with you wherever you go. Keep a jar of nuts and a bag of seeds at work, along with a measuring cup. Premade jerky is loaded with sugar because it is added in the spices. If you make it yourself and there is no sugar in the jerky spices, you can have it. If you use premade jerky spice mix, it probably has sugar in it. Read the ingredients. It should have no more than 3 grams of sugar per serving. There are recipes in the files section for sugarfree jerkey spice mix. Stop looking at your points. It's unnecessary and it's stressing you out. It's not " pigging out " to eat the amount of healthy foods that is necessary to fill you. ann > > Well-- that makes TWO OF YOU who are saying the same thing. Guest guest
This is what I mean by " over thinking " . You are on the beach...commit to that. You do not need to worry about the egg yokes or the points. don't make this harder for yourself than it has to be. You need to really decide what way of eating you want to follow. Then " just do it " ...and don't sweat the small stuff. MB Re: Day 2/anne Today was better. But I'm still feeling guilty and feeling like I'm eating too much. Breakfast steak, broccoli stems. Ricotta. Nuts. . . . On the nuts -- 1/4 cup seems like a lot! But, oka-ay.... The eggs make me nervous because of the yolks, but I've read the book and they're supposed to be okay....so, oka-ay.... The volume seems more than I'm used to eating on points. Feel like I'm in a danger zone with the fats... Been checking out more recipes fromt he files.... went out an bought a WHOLE lot more veggies to try. There are some neat veggie snacks in the files... the chickpea recipes look interesting. I haven't been AS hungry... but I've also been busy. I didn't see sugar free fat free pudding mix anywhere. I had a half cup of that just about a half hour ago.... I didn't see sugar, or carbs on there.... I hope I didn't blow it. Did I??? If so, it's down the drain. I think I'm okay so far today...Think. (No, don't think... I " feel I must be " okay today... though the feeling is tentative. heh.) More later. thanks. Don't eat any more until you get there. For Phase 1 you can eat sugar-free jello for dessert. Have you tried the ricotta desserts listed in the book? They are quite tasty. I especially like the chocolate version. You can also have some plain yogurt flavored with artificial sweetener and vanilla for a sweet. Ann hayakawa@... Guest guest
Ann, I eat few eggs, but I eat a lot of Eggbeaters. I use them for all my quiches, in baking, in recipes like meatloaf, etc. They are just pasteurized egg whites. For right now, I wouldn't worry about your calories or your points or your fat grams. I'd just concentrate on learning the diet. Once you are on it for awhile, you can fine tune it. I love the roasted chickpea recipe. If I can't find pudding that is both sugar free and fat free, I just get sugar free. They are only about 4 ounces per serving, and I don't eat more than one serving a day, so it's not that much fat. But, pudding isn't on phase 1, that is the only problem. If you feel like it will help you stick to the diet, tho, then don't worry about it. ann > > Today was better. Guest guest
I am wiser now, Ann. I hope I won't have the occasion to have to do P1 again, but, if I do, I will do it right from the very start. > > I didn't see sugar free fat free pudding mix anywhere.
